| How to plant perennials | |
| If you are looking to do some gardening to brighten up your landscape, but maybe aren’t sure what to do, we can give you a step by step guide on how to plant these perennials. First, feel the pot; if they are dry you must moisten them first. Then dig a hole that is wider than the container they are in but do not dig any deeper than the pot. If the hole is too small, dig around it to accommodate the plant, never try to squeeze a plant into a hole that doesn’t work.
Next step is when planting the perennials only plant one at a time. This is done so that the tender root hairs are not exposed to drying out. Then firmly but gently tap the sides of the pot to loosen the plant, never pull it out. Turn the pot upside down and into your hands. Handle the plants by the roots and not the stems. Clean off the roots, when you plant the roots will go into the soil. Place the plant in the hole and pack surrounding soil, press firmly, never stand on them. Water very generously. Do not use fertilizer until a week so after planting then for best results use organic soil. Make sure you keep the perennials moist for a least a couple of months but do not over water. |
